    Description
Wag's was a consortium of casual dining restaurants owned and operated by Walgreens in the 1970s and 1980s. They were modeled after restaurants like Denny's, Shoney's, and Big Boy. Basically open 24-hours a day offering less expensive menu items such as hamburgers and breakfast. Wag's closest competition during this time was Woolworth's popular lunch counter. Walgreens sold all 91 freestanding stores to Marriott Corporation in 1988, retaining only a few locations that were situated in malls. Marriott began selling off its assets, Its stock drastically depreciated. It looked to sell Wag's but could not find buyers. The corporation closed all locations and the Wag's chain was completely out of business by 1991.
