Cruising through many states of America, remnants of eateries of the past can still be found. Travel back to a stage in time with me to rekindle the memories of food franchises and the lost cuisine of bygone days. We can remember the presence of these dining experiences in their heyday long ago, but still etched in moments and recollections.

    Two Pesos

    Date Established
    Location
    1982
    Houston

    Description
This was a Tex-Mex restaurant chain in Texas that opened in 1982 in Houston and like Taco Cabana but Two Pesos never opened in Taco Cabana's home market of San Antonio. The Two Pesos chain was sold to Taco Cabana in 1993 after losing a trade dress suit in the Supreme Court. Two Pesos was started in 1985 by Houston restaurateur Marno McDermot, who had been in contact with Taco Cabana's management to establish a patio-restaurant chain nationwide. When Taco Cabana's founding Stehling brothers declined the idea, McDermot chose instead to open his own chain of Tex-Mex restaurants under the Two Pesos name.
