    Description
Toddle House was a restaurant group centered around breakfast but was open 24/7 with additional lunch and dinner selections including soups, salads and assorted sandwiches with an emphasis on takeout. The forerunner to Toddle House began in the late 1920s, by J. C. Stedman, and he presented an idea to the owners of Britling Cafeterias. A short time later, Stedman was approached by James Frederick "Fred" Smith, who was looking for a new investment after Greyhound Corporation had purchased large shares in the Smith Motor Coach Company, he founded 1931, and was rebranded as the Dixie Greyhound Lines. In 1962, Toddle House was purchased by Dobbs Houses, and shortly began to fall into disarray. In 1980, Carson Pirie Scott purchased Dobbs Houses and in January 1988, Carson Pirie Scott sold Steak 'n Egg Kitchen and Toddle House to Diversified Hospitality Group of Milford, Connecticut. All remnants of the original group are gone from history.
