Cruising through many states of America, remnants of eateries of the past can still be found. Travel back to a stage in time with me to rekindle the memories of food franchises and the lost cuisine of bygone days. We can remember the presence of these dining experiences in their heyday long ago, but still etched in moments and recollections.

    Description
Sandy's was a chain of fast-food restaurants begun in 1956 by four entrepreneurs from Kewanee, Illinois: and was the ancestor of the midwestern franchises of the Hardee's restaurant chain. The menu of the first Sandy's restaurant included a 15¢ hamburger, a 20¢ milkshake, and a 10¢ bag of french fries. Sandy's, was low of funds but, the successful Hardee's chain in the Southern U.S. had money so the decision was a merger. On November 30, 1971, a Hardee's purchase of all of Sandy's stock was announced, and at first the plan was to merge with Hardees to keep afloat, but in 1973 90% of the restaurants transitioned to Hardee's; the rest remained Sandy's. In 1979, the last Sandy's location in Muscatine, Iowa, became a Hardee's.
