    Description
    Koo Koo Roo was a restaurant chain featuring charbroiled chicken in by Mike and Ray Badalian and the name is in reference to the crow of a rooster. The business proved to be a financial burden and kept losing profits it was sold to Family Restaurants Inc., the owner of Chi-Chi's and El Torito Mexican restaurants. Eventually Koo Koo Roo, Chi-Chi's, and Hamburger Hamlet, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection with the final restaurant in Santa Monica, California, closed in 2014 and in 2021, Luby's Restaurants, Inc. sold Koo Koo Roo to an independent third party.
