    Description
The Holly Tree Inns was the inspiration and idea of Annie Adams Fields, wife of Boston publisher James T. Fields to provide dining for customers other than the wealthy. The first introduction was in 1870 and offered affordable meals for the working class and considered a coffee house that chose not to serve alcoholic beverages. The name was derived from a story by Charles Dickens entitled "The Boots at the Holly Tree Inn."
