With the first restaurant opening in 1990 in Orlando, Florida the China Coast was well underway to becoming yet another selection to the properties owned by Darden Restaurants Inc. Other franchises at this time of the company were Olive Garden and Red Lobster and they offered American Chinese fare. The restaurants were tailored to imitate pagodas with open-air kitchens and decorations imported from China. With rapid expansion in the area, it moved too quickly and was a contributing factor for the company eventually going bankrupt with added negative reviews, mediocre service, and overall concept. After achieving opening 52 total locations, no further plans were made to increase to more and in 1995 ceased operations.s

Cruising through many states of America, remnants of eateries of the past can still be found. Travel back to a stage in time with me to rekindle the memories of food franchises and the lost cuisine of bygone days. We can remember the presence of these dining experiences in their heyday long ago, but still etched in moments and recollections.
