    Description
    The concept of the first restaurant that would grow into a chain was the inspiration by Theodore Holmes and the name for a character in a book called character name in the book titled "Roots: The Saga of an American Family". After the initial store in the Mondawmin Mall in Baltimore in 1979, it expanded to other locations in the area and Philadelphia with one situated in Washington D.C. and a few franchise locations in cities around the country including Atlanta and Los Angeles. Menu items were offered of chicken, chicken salad, gumbo, fish and chips, and optional dishes of greens, biscuits, french fries, and rice. in September 1991 the company filed to dissolve the business in Chapter 7 bankruptcy proceedings.
