    Beefsteak Charlie's

    Description
    Charles W. Chessar was business owner from New York City nicknamed "Beefsteak Charlie" and operated his first restaurant until 1934. It was a sports themed operation that specialized in steak sandwiches and when Chessar departed, his namesake restaurant was owned by William Soshnick. He later sold the business in 1960 along with the name until 1979 when it was bought by Larry Ellman and expanded to more locations until the last restaurant finally closed in 2009.
