Ameche’s was started up by the Baltimore Colts’ fullback Alan Ameche, who played for the Colts from 1955 to 1960. The restaurants were known for ‘no charge’ carry out service with not just a selection of hamburgers, but also a hot ham and Swiss cheese sandwich.
